Self Portraits by 90 women artists will be on displayed at Littman Gallery , Portland, USA in August 2010
HER PRESENCE IN COLOURS IX-USA 2010 - International Women Artists Exhibition
90 women artists from different regions of the world will be presenting their artworks together at Litman Gallery commencing 3 August -8 August 2010. The Theme: Self Portrati- Reflection of Self reflects the awareness of self and feminine vision. Dr. Yuen Chee Ling, the Director /Principal of Conservatory of Fine Arts Penang is the original initiator of Her Presence In Colours Exhibition series. She founded the International Women Artists Council with subcenters in Malaysian, Thailand, United Kingdom, Australia and Korea. Vietnam, Taiwan, Hongkong.
To date, Conservatory of Fine Art/ INWAC has organized 8 successfully international exhibitions at the Gallery of Beijing Academy of Fine Art (1993), the State Art Gallery – Penang (1995 & 1997), Suan Prakkad Palace Museum – Bangkok (1999-2000), Clock Tower Gallery – Sheffield ( 2002), Manningham Gallery – Melbourne (2004) and Daegu Cultural Art Center – Korea (2006) adn China National Art Galelry -(2008)

During the opening ceremony, Dr. Yuen Chee Ling and Mr. Choo Cheng Shiong, the Director of Xiao En Cultural presented a mock cheque to Pure Lotus Hospice of Compassion ( Amount RM3,000). This is in conjunction with the Charity Art Auction Dinner held on 26th of July 2009 at E & O Hotel jointly organized by WDO –Georgetown and Xiao En Cultural. YB Wong Hon Wai witnessed the presentation of mock cheque to Mr. Tan Kar Hin, Representative of Pure Lotus Hospice of Compassion

Art exhibition is not just a mere glamorous party but is an important point of contact for intellectual audience, art enthusiasts and students. “Heritage Penang” is an art exhibition that reminds people of the significance of art as a reflection of the cultural life of people. This awareness is necessary for the reappraisal of the significant contribution of the artists whose art reflects the quintessence of Penang …The art speaks to viewers why Penang become a world heritage site.
Familiar sights of Penang painted by well known artists from the 1960s were on display. The artists are: Abdul Rashid bin Abdul Razak, Charles Chauderlot, Chin Kon Yit, Suchart Vongthong(Dr.), Yuen Chee Ling (Dr.), Kuo Ju Ping, Lee Weng Fatt, Neoh Hang Peng, Pheh It Hao, Prof. Zakaria Ali (Prof). Liu Wen San( Prof) , Tan Lye Hoe, Tan Choon Ghee, Tan Chiang Kiong,Teh Siew Joo, Toya (Lim Khoon Hock) and Yeong Seak Ling.
“Heritage Penang” is a continuing exhibition series , related events like cultural performances, educational art workshops, art forum and discussions will be hold at the same venue at Galeri Art Point , 46 & 48 Jalan Chow Thye.
